The electric hard seal flanged butterfly valve features a precision U-shaped elastic seal ring and a three-eccentric multi-layer metal hard seal structure. It is extensively utilized in industrial pipelines for medium temperature ≤425℃ applications such as gold, electric power, petrochemical, water supply and drainage, and municipal construction for flow regulation and current carrying. The valve adopts a three eccentric structure with the valve seat and plate sealing surface made of different hardness stainless steel to provide excellent corrosion resistance and long service life. Additionally, the valve offers two-way sealing function and complies with the national GB/T13927-92 valve pressure test standard.
2. Product Characteristics
(1) The valve features a three-eccentric sealing structure, ensuring minimal wear on the valve seat and butterfly plate while providing increasingly tight sealing functionality.
(2) The sealing ring is crafted from stainless steel, offering the dual benefits of metal hard seal and elastic seal. It exhibits outstanding sealing performance, corrosion resistance, and a long service life across both low and high temperatures.
(3) The plate’s sealing surface is surfaced with cobalt-based cemented carbide for exceptional wear resistance and longevity.
(4) For larger specifications, the plate adopts a quilted structure that delivers high strength, a spacious flow area, and minimal flow resistance.
(5) This valve possesses bidirectional sealing capabilities without being restricted by medium flow or spatial orientation during installation—it can be installed in any direction.
(6) The drive device can be conveniently installed at multiple stations (rotating 90° or 180°) for ease of use.
3. Actuator
(1) Power supply: The motor operates on three-phase AC at 380V (special orders available for 660V, 440V, or 220V) and 50Hz (special orders available for 60Hz). The control line voltage is set at 220V/50Hz (with the option for special order of 60Hz), while the remote control voltage is maintained at 24VDC.
(2) Working environment
(3) Ambient temperature: -20 to +60℃ (with the option for special order of -60 to +80℃)
(4) Relative humidity: ≤90% (at a temperature of 25℃)
(5) Ordinary and outdoor types are suitable for use in environments without flammable/explosive or corrosive substances. There are two explosion-proof product categories, dⅠ and dⅡBT4; dⅠ is designed for non-mining areas in coal mines, while dⅡBT4 is intended for factory use and suitable for explosive gas mixtures in groups IIA and IIB classes T1-T4.
(6) Protection level: The outdoor and explosion-proof types conform to IP55 standards (customization available up to IP67).
(7) Working system: Standard operation time is set at a short duration of 10 minutes (with customization options up to 30 minutes).
4. Distinction
Hard seal butterfly valve: The sealing pair on both sides consists of metal or other hard materials, known as “hard seal”. While this type of seal exhibits poor sealing performance, it offers high temperature resistance, wear resistance, and good mechanical properties. Examples include steel + steel; steel + copper; steel + graphite; and steel + alloy steel (where the term “steel” may also refer to cast iron, cast steel, alloy steel, or surfacing-welded/sprayed alloy).
Soft seal butterfly valve: One side of the sealing pair is a metal material while the other side is a flexible non-metallic material referred to as “soft seal”. This type of seal demonstrates good sealing performance but lacks high-temperature resistance and has lower wear resistance and mechanical properties. Examples include steel + rubber; Steel + tetrafluoroethylene [wiki] [/wiki]; among others.
The advantage of soft seal butterfly valves lies in their superior sealing performance while their disadvantage includes susceptibility to aging, wear, and shorter service life.
Hard-seal butterfly valves offer an extended service life but exhibit relatively poorer tightness compared to soft seals.
